Water is a synonym for 'life' as no life form can exist on earth without it. Although it is the most abundant natural resource, still the quantity of it which is fit for consumption is becoming scarce because of increase in the level of pollution. The quality of water clarifies whether it is suitable for being consumed or not, therefore it needs to be tested before use. The natural mineral water and the packaged drinking water should meet the requirements specified by Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).
